在中国唐宋时期，就已经出现了一些经典的饮品、甜品。其中“冰镇珍珠汁”在当时已较受大家欢迎。中国古籍《续夷坚志》详细记载：“临洮城外，洮水，冬月结小冰子，如芡实，圆洁如一耳垂之珠。洮城中，富人收贮。盛夏以蜜浆调之，如珍珠粉。”在盛夏之时，中国古人喝上一杯冰镇珍珠汁就十分满足了。
