“残羹剩饭”的意思就是吃剩下的饭菜。客家可带走,在中国北方叫折萝,南方叫打包,在中国自古就有。在中国古代宴席文化盛行,官场交际、生意谈判、喜宴、生日宴等,都会在饭桌上沟通、庆祝。中国人自古就好面子,所以宴席上的菜不能随便,有很多好菜,但宴席是谈事、应酬为主,真正在意吃的人会很少,宴席上就会剩下大量的菜肴,有的完好没动过筷子,十分可惜。因此,在每次宴席完毕后,店家会把剩下完好的食物,原封不动的送回给客家。所以在中国古代晚上的街上,经常有人打著灯笼在送餐。这些残羹剩饭怎么做好吃了,可以做成烩菜,烹饪在一起,也十分美味。
